When a shop floor operator is ready to start an operation on a job, they must first sign on to the touchscreen by entering their operator number and pressing enter
Enter the job number (including preceding zeroes) or scan the job card’s bar code
Select the operation to be started (unless the system is set to allow operations to be carried out in the incorrect order, this will always be the top operation in the list)
Select ‘Start <operation name>’, confirming the quantity as required
The operation has now been started and the screen will return to the job number entry page.
Once the operation has been completed, enter the job number (or scan the barcode) again
Select ‘OK’ to complete the operation
The operation is now completed and the screen returns to the job entry screen. If the job number is entered again, the completed operation no longer appears on the list
This process is carried out for each operation in a job’s route. The system can be set to complete the job once all operations have been completed but, if this option is not selected, an operator must enter (or scan) the job number one more time to complete the job
