Creating a template (master copy)
Creating a template within assemblies adopts the same process as for a single item template.
Use the new quotation button to open the new quotation window.
Enter all the relevant information using the spy glass to retrieve the customer and part detail. If the part is not in the parts database, enter all the detail for the part. Using the large + next to the part record will open the new part window enabling addition to the parts database. Please note: the part record will require updating with costs etc.
When creating a template the order and build quantity must be a value of 1, remember this is being used as a master copy. No delivery date and customer reference are to be included. Tick the Template box and Assembly if this part is the top level of the assembly.
Continue creating a template for each component that needs to be manufactured. To complete each template all labour, material, part and subcon detail needs to be populated.
When all components have templates, it is now possible to construct the assembly.
Assembly Components
Using the more traditional method of assembly construction. Open the Assembly Components sub tab on the top level of the assembly. Using the + button the picking list for all templates relating to this customer will be displayed. Multiple selection can be used to input all the manufactured components into the table. The quantity against each component needs to be the ratio of requirement to manufacture the top level e.g. 2 x lens for top level of 1.
Explorer
Using the new Explorer popout window enables users to get better visibility of the construction of the assembly.
Use the Explorer button next to the Quote no. field to open the explorer window.
The structure of an assembly will be displayed including the bought in parts relevant to each level. Initially these bought in parts may not display, use the double chevron to open menu options. Tick all boxes and Apply to save.

Creating a Quotation Template using Explorer
Create the top level as a normal template using the + as per all new quotations, if the part is not in the parts database this can be added using the black cross next to the part number field. Please note: this is a shortcut, therefore will only record the fields as displayed.
A template used for assemblies has a quantity of 1 in both order and build fields.
Tick both Template and Assembly. Select OK to save the record. The quotation window will open, where all the construction including labour, materials, parts and subcon relating to this part can be entered.
Adding sub levels
Open the Explorer. To add a sub level right click on the relevant level, select Create New Component from the menu.
Insert all the detail, if the part is not in the part database it can be added using the + button adjacent to the part number field. If the part has a linked template this will be displayed within the new quotation window. Select the Use Template tick box to acknowledge the use of a listed template. Enter quantity of 1, the template tick box will be greyed out but the tick will acknowledge that it is a template.
Bought in parts on the quotation template will appear underneath the sub assembly assuming the double chevron has been selected and all the boxes have been ticked.
